Liquid Level Controller

Application

Water level control in residential and commercial building

The Problem / Task

Residential and commercial buildings, normally have ground tank and elevated (upper) tank. These tanks are used for storage and supply of water. It is required to monitor water level in tanks in order to avoid over spillage of water and dry running of water pump due to low level of water.

The Solution

In water supply system, water is supplied from the water mains into ground tank and pumped up to elevated tank, then further distributed to each floor. When water level in the elevated tank is low then water is pumped from the ground tank to supplement it. If water level reaches a certain level, the pump stops. Water level in elevated tanks is maintained within upper and lower limits with precise control of pump.

Liquid level controller helps to control the operation of water pump on the basis of water level of tanks. Water levels are sensed by three immersed electrode sensors in both the tanks. During power ON, when liquid level is low in lower tank or upper tank is filled completely then relay remains in OFF condition. If lower tank is completely filled with liquid or upper tank is partially filled then relay turns ON. The relay can be turned ON by pressing Manual switch when lower tank is partially filled and upper tank is partially filled or empty. The relay will be in OFF condition to avoid dry running of motor whenever lower tank is empty. It also helps to avoid overflow when upper tank is completely filled.

Benefits

  • Autonomous operation
Liquid level controller can function in a completely autonomous manner and eliminate the manual monitoring of the tanks.
  • Power Saver
Liquid level controller helps in controlling electricity usage.
  • Water Conservation
Liquid level controller helps in avoiding wastage of water, by switching off pump automatically.
  • Money Saver
Liquid level controller helps in saving power and water wastage, hence saves a lot of money.
