Overview
This Privacy Policy describes how General Industrial Controls Pvt. Ltd. (GIC), through its Mobile Application (“App”, “we”, “our”, or “us”), collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you use the applicationour mobile application.
The App is designed to communicate directly with compatible GIC devices through Bluetooth technology. In the ordinary course of using the App, GIC does not collect, store, transmit or otherwise process personal data about users, or requires account creation, login, or user registration. The App operates locally on your device and transfers configuration and diagnostic information between your mobile device and compatible GIC products.
By accessing, downloading, or using the App, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy and agree to the data handling practices described herein, including the collection and processing of personal data in accordance with applicable law. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
We are committed to protecting your privacy in compliance with India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act). Your trust matters to us, and we handle your personal data with the highest standards of security, transparency, and accountability
Information We Collect
We collect only the minimum information necessary to provide and improve our services in case you need any support. The App may request access to:
- Bluetooth;
- nearby devices;
- local file storage (for importing or exporting configuration files); and
- network connectivity (where required for firmware updates, diagnostics or support services).
These permissions are used solely to enable App functionality. If you contact GIC for technical support, warranty assistance or product enquiries, you may voluntarily provide information such as your name, email address, telephone number, or installation details. GIC uses this information solely to respond to and manage your request.
The App does not use browser cookies. However, where permitted, the App may use limited analytics or diagnostic technologies to improve functionality and performance. You may choose to refuse cookies, or to alert you when cookies are being sent. If you do so, to the extent that such cookies are essential to the delivery of services to you through the App, you may please note that some parts of the App may not function properly.
We do not collect location data (including GPS, cell-tower, or network-based physical location data), health data, financial data, biometric data, mobile data (including contacts, call logs, or messages from your mobile device, camera or microphone data, advertising identifiers or behavioural analytics profiles, or crash reports, usage telemetry, or performance analytics) or any sensitive personal information unless explicitly stated and consented to. The App may access and process technical information relating to connected GIC devices, including device type, firmware version, operating configuration, diagnostic information and performance data. Such information is generally associated with the connected equipment rather than an identifiable individual. To the extent any such information constitutes personal data under applicable law, GIC processes it only for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy and in accordance with applicable legal requirements. Further, GIC does not retain copies of this data on its servers. This data is deleted from the App when you remove the device through the App’s user interface or when you uninstall the App.
Where the processing of personal data is based on your consent, GIC will obtain such consent through appropriate in-app notices or interactions before processing the relevant personal data. You may withdraw your consent at any time in accordance with Section 07 of this Privacy Policy. Where you withdraw consent, certain App functionalities may become unavailable.
How We Use Your Information
Where GIC processes personal data, it does so for responding to support requests, communicating service-related information, maintaining product and application security, complying with legal obligations, and improving the performance and reliability of the App. Personal data is processed only for these purposes unless otherwise permitted under applicable law or separately notified to you.
The App uses Bluetooth functionality (i.e. BLE communication) solely to discover compatible GIC devices, establish communication between the mobile device and the GIC device, transfer configuration files and operational parameters, retrieve device configuration and diagnostic information, and update firmware where supported.
Bluetooth access is required for these functions to operate. The App does not use Bluetooth to track users, monitor location, or collect personal information.
Data exchanged through Bluetooth consists of device-related information such as model information, firmware version, configuration settings, operational parameters, diagnostic information, and device status information. Such information is used solely for operating and supporting the connected device.
Data Sharing & Disclosure
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party. Your data may be shared only in the following limited circumstances:
- Service Providers: Trusted third-party vendors who assist us in operating the App (e.g., cloud hosting, email delivery) and are contractually bound to handle data securely.
- Legal Requirements: If required by law, court order, or a government authority under applicable Indian laws.
- Business Transfer: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your data may be transferred, with prior notice to you.
Your personal data may be stored, processed, or accessed by authorised service providers within India or, where necessary, outside India. Where personal data is transferred outside India, such transfer shall be carried out in accordance with applicable law, including any restrictions notified by the Government of India from time to time.
Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organisational security measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.
Personal data may be processed and stored on secure servers located in India subject to applicable law. While GIC implements reasonable security measures, no system can be completely secure. Users should also take appropriate measures to protect their devices and credentials.
In the event of a data breach, we will notify affected users as required by applicable Indian law and take reasonable measures to contain, investigate, and remediate the breach and shall notify affected users and/or applicable regulatory authorities where mandated under applicable law. To the maximum extent permitted under applicable law, GIC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from unauthorised access to, loss of, or alteration of personal data caused by events beyond GIC’s reasonable control, including failures of third-party systems, networks, service providers, or cyber incidents. Nothing in this Privacy Policy limits liability where such limitation is prohibited under applicable law.
Data Retention
Where personal data is collected through support requests or similar interactions, GIC retains such information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the relevant purpose or as required by applicable law.
Your Rights
Under applicable Indian data protection law, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act), you may have the following rights:
- Right to Access Information: Request a summary of your personal data we hold.
- Right to Correction/Updating Data: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Right to Erasure of Data: Request deletion of your personal data, subject to legal obligations.
- Right to Withdraw Consent: Withdraw your consent previously given to data processing at any time.
- Right to Grievance Redressal: Lodge a complaint with us, the Data Protection Board of India or as provided under applicable Indian law.

Children’s Privacy
The mobile Application is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect or process personal information from minors unless consent has been validly obtained from a parent or lawful guardian in accordance with applicable law. If we become aware that personal data of a minor has been provided without verifiable parental consent, we will promptly delete such data.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. When we make significant changes, we will notify you via the App, by email, or other appropriate means. The revised policy will carry an updated “Last Updated” date at the top. Where required under applicable law, and where such changes materially affect the processing of your personal data, we may seek your fresh consent before such changes become effective.
We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
