Key Responsibilities

New Product Development

  • Lead hardware architecture design for new product development.  
  • Identify and select appropriate electronic components, development tools, and platforms.  
  • Develop block diagrams, signal flow diagrams, and detailed hardware schematics.  
  • Perform power budget analysis, component lifetime estimation, and MTBF calculations.  
  • Conduct BOM cost analysis and optimize product cost.  
  • Prepare and complete DFMEA, DFM, and DFT activities to ensure manufacturability and testability.  
  • Prepare part lists, support prototype board assembly, and oversee engineering builds.  
  • Execute design validation, publish validation reports, and prepare products for engineering release.  
  • Collaborate with testing teams to analyze results and implement corrective actions based on reliability testing.  
  • Provide technical inputs for product manuals, application notes, videos, and other product documentation.  

Design Standards & Quality

  • Develop and maintain design guidelines, engineering standards, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).  
  • Conduct technical design reviews and ensure compliance with engineering processes and quality standards.  

Project Planning & Execution

  • Prepare project plans, define milestones, and estimate engineering efforts.  
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute hardware development activities within project timelines.  

Project Monitoring

  • Conduct regular project review meetings with cross-functional teams.  
  • Monitor project schedules, budgets, and resource utilization.  
  • Maintain accurate engineering documentation and project records.  

Customer Support & Issue Resolution

  • Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for hardware-related issues.  
  • Implement corrective actions and support product validation and testing.  
  • Resolve technical issues through effective engineering support.  

Knowledge Management

  • Document, update, and share technical knowledge, best practices, and engineering learnings across teams.  

People Management

  • Mentor and guide hardware engineers.  
  • Conduct periodic performance reviews and provide structured feedback.  
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance engineering culture.  

Capability Development

  • Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends in power electronics.  
  • Drive continuous improvement by recommending innovative engineering methods and optimized ways of working.  
  • Contribute ideas that enhance product quality, engineering efficiency, and organizational capability. 

 

Competencies

  • Hands-on experience with designing SMPS topologies such as Buck, Boost, Flyback, Half-Bridge, and Full-Bridge converters   
  • Experience with designing SMPS, Linear, and Capacitive Power Supplies, including thermal design considerations   
  • Expertise in magnetics design, including transformers, chokes, and common-mode chokes with EMI/EMC considerations   
  • Strong knowledge of electronic components and component selection   
  • Hands-on experience in analog and digital circuit design   
  • Experience in reviewing circuit simulations, schematics, PCB layouts, and test reports   
  • Strong understanding of EMI/EMC compliance requirements   
  • Experience with Design FMEA and MTBF calculations   
  • Experience in microcontroller interfacing circuit design   
  • Knowledge of serial communication protocols  
  • Basic understanding of embedded firmware and software  
  • Experience in project planning, effort estimation, and cost estimation
