Senior Engineer, Wave Soldering (ME)

Location: Pune 

Experience Required: Minimum 3-5 years 

Qualification: BE / B.Tech / Diploma in Electronics, Instrumentation or Telecommunication

Key Responsibilities 

  • Release to Production – New Product / ECN 
  • Understand the PCB requirement thoroughly for new products and Engineering Change Notices (ECN)  
  • Collect Wave Pallet, Jigs, and Fixture list required for the product  
  • Optimise flux application, preheating, conveyor speed, solder temperature, and wave height for each new product 

MI / WSM (Wave Soldering Machine) 

  • Develop and validate the Wave Soldering Machine process – parameter setup, validation, verification, and execution  
  • Set, verify, and validate WSM profiles for consistent quality output  
  • Perform 3D AOI / Visual Inspection (VI) data verification and fine-tune machine settings accordingly   

Robotic Soldering 

  • Program Robotic Soldering Machines for accurate, repeatable solder application  
  • Set up and validate / verify fixtures and jigs related to robotic soldering operations  

Production Support & Team Management 

  • Provide daily technical support for wave soldering production lines  
  • Troubleshoot soldering defects: bridging, insufficient solder, icicles, voids, non-wetting, solder balls, etc  
  • Ensure compliance with IPC standards and customer requirements  
  • Support internal and external audits related to the soldering process  
  • Work with maintenance teams to minimise machine downtime  

PCB Assembly Section Action 

  • Ensure zero accidents in your work area through diligent safety practice  
  • Provide CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Action) for in-process / FQC / customer complaints  
  • Attend and prepare data for daily, weekly, and monthly stakeholder meetings  

Maintain 6S 

  • Drive 6S (Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardise, Sustain, Safety) discipline across the wave soldering section  
  • Achieve target 6S scores for the respective section consistently  

Competencies  

Primary Competencies 

  • Minimum 3-5 years of PCBA (PCB Assembly) manufacturing experience 
  • Strong technical understanding and practical skills for WSM — Machine validation and troubleshooting for defect minimization 
  • Robotic Soldering programming experience 
  • Understanding of operational processes in electronics – Primarily MI and WSM 
  • WSM profile setting skills 
  • Experience working on ERP systems 
  • Manual assembly and wave soldering profile setting & troubleshooting knowledge 
  • Product / component drawing understanding 
  • Knowledge of IPC standards 
  • Knowledge of ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) standards 

Nice to Have 

  • Troubleshooting knowledge of machines beyond wave soldering equipment
