Responsibilities

New Product Development

  • Create product architecture for hardware design
  • Identify and finalize key components and tools for product development
  • Create block diagrams and signal flow diagrams
  • Perform power budget estimation and calculations
  • Develop schematics for power electronic products
  • Create component lifetime calculations and MTBF calculations
  • Assess product cost and compare planned vs actual BOM cost
  • Create and close DFMEA activities
  • Complete DFM and DFT closure activities
  • Create part lists and BOM documentation
  • Build board assemblies and prototypes
  • Conduct design validation and publish validation reports
  • Prepare engineering release documentation
  • Participate in discussions with testing teams regarding test results
  • Take corrective actions on design issues identified during reliability testing
  • Provide inputs for product literature, manuals, videos, and sample applications

Design Standards

  • Prepare design guidelines and SOPs
  • Conduct technical design reviews
  • Ensure adherence to design standards and process frameworks
  • Ensure timely and accurate documentation including schematics, designs, and reports

Project Planning & Execution

  • Prepare project plans for hardware development streams
  • Coordinate with Design Units for project execution and issue resolution
  • Organize periodic review meetings to track progress and discuss new requirements
  • Monitor and ensure optimal utilization of project budgets and resources
  • Prepare and maintain project timesheets

Project Monitoring

  • Monitor Schedule Performance Index (SPI) and project milestones
  • Track product cost performance index
  • Minimize hardware revisions before production release
  • Ensure no pilot batch issues related to DFM and DFT

Customer Complaints & Support

  • Perform root cause analysis for product and design related issues
  • Provide resolutions and release updated designs for testing
  • Support cross functional teams in addressing customer and field issues

Knowledge Management

  • Contribute to organizational knowledge banks by updating technical knowledge and documentation
  • Share ideas and suggestions for implementation and process improvement
  • Develop new and optimized ways of working
  • Stay updated with industry trends, technology upgrades, and best practices

People Management

  • Conduct periodic performance reviews with structured feedback
  • Mentor and guide team members on technical and project related activities
  • Support capability building and technical development within the team

Capability Development

  • Track industry trends and benchmark best in class practices
  • Support technology roadmap planning and innovation initiatives
  • Encourage learning, innovation, and continuous improvement activities

Competencies

Functional/Technical Competencies

  • Hands on design experience in SMPS topologies such as Buck, Boost, Flyback, Half Bridge, and Full Bridge
  • Hands on experience in SMPS, linear, and capacitive power supply design and thermal design
  • Magnetics design calculations and EMI/EMC considerations for transformers, chokes, and CMCs
  • Strong electronic component knowledge and component selection capability
  • Hands on experience in analog and digital circuit design
  • Experience reviewing circuit simulations, schematics, PCB layouts, and test reports
  • Knowledge of EMI and EMC compliance requirements
  • Experience in Design FMEA and MTBF calculations
  • Microcontroller interfacing circuit design knowledge
  • Knowledge of serial communication protocols
  • Basic knowledge of firmware and software
  • Knowledge of project planning, effort estimation, and cost estimation
